Naomi is available on any iPad with iOS 14 and later.

Which iPad is best for Naomi? A few of our team members are using the iPad Air 4th gen (2020 w/ AI4 Bionic processor) and the iPad Pro (2021) w/ MI processor and LiDAR fir AR). We recommend the iPad Air wiMI processor.

For now, developing for iOS is our primary focus. Naomi is currently supported by iPads with iOS 14.0 and later. Plus, the AR functionalities on android are poor and still need improvements before we can develop.

chevron-rightDo I have to use Unity for rigging?hashtag

Yes, Unity is required for creating rigged models to use in the Naomi app.

Just follow these steps:

  1. Create your rig in Unity*

  2. Export via NaomiPublic package

  3. Import

Yes. Export your model as OBJ, then drag and drop it into Unity. Create a naomiasset. FBX/OBJ import is currently under development.

chevron-rightIs there a timeline limit for animations?hashtag

There is no limit but typically animations are done in 50-250 frames.

chevron-rightCan I animate frame-by-frame or pose-by-pose?hashtag

Both! However, animating pose-by-pose with linear interpolation is easier than frame-by-frame because the adjustment is harder with the # of keys.

chevron-rightCan I sculpt in Naomi?hashtag

Not at the moment. We recommend Nomad sculpt app for iPad.

chevron-rightCan I use a Maya rig in Naomi?hashtag

Yes! You can add skeleton/joints in Maya and then use the model in Naomi (export back to Maya via FBX - coming soon!)

Check that you’re iPad is running on iOS 14 or later.

Try the following:

  • Uninstall the app and install the latest version.

  • Disable the internet connection before launching the app, then reenable the internet connection.

  • Check storage space (at least 200mb is required for top performance

Yes, tapping the red record button in the app triggers full screen recording. The video will save to your photos library.

chevron-rightDo I need an iPad with LiDAR Scanner to use AR?hashtag

No, the AR experience on iOS is very impressive even without LiDAR. However, LiDAR does push the quality of Naomi even further.

chevron-rightWhy can’t I import from Unity?hashtag

Please check that you’re using the correct version of Unity (2021.2.18).

chevron-rightHow can I move, delete, copy paste keyframes?hashtag

Hold the middle button with one finger and use another finger to slide across the timeline. A keyframe selection rectangle will appear. Now, there are four options:

  1. Tap the “trash” button to remove the selected keys.

  2. Tap the 2nd “duplicate” icon. When the selected area turns green, it means the selected keys have been copied. Now, you’ll be able to move the copied keys.

  3. Move the selected area without any additional button/icon. The existing keys will move.

  4. Tap on another place along the timeline to cancel the selection box.
